1 Timothy 5:17-5:25
What is the writer saying?
When I first read this passage it immediately reminded me of
Pauls message in 1 Corinthians 9:14
“Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”

The ox treads out the corn so that man can eat it. Likewise pastors and ministers should rightly divide the word (2 Timothy 2:15) , so that their congregation/students can eat it. However, if the Ox does not first taste and see for himself, he will not have the energy ie what he needs to break down the corn. Just as the minister will be inept in breaking down the word, leaving a powerless and spiritually hungry congregation.

How can I apply this to my life?
Ministers can not preach humility when they are prideful, love when they are hateful, mercy when they are merciless.
If we are to encourage quiet time, scripture memory, and discipleship, then we as leaders must be fully engaged in all of these ourselves.
